Although there were hints of what was to come later, the 1988-89 Bulls weren’t quite ready to scale the peaks of Championship greatness just yet. Still, it ranks as one of the more memorable pre-Championship winning campaigns in Michael Jordan’s storied career. ‘The Shot’ that bounced the higher seeded Cavaliers out of the playoffs and doomed Craig Ehlo to an eternity of appearing in the background of highlight clips and posters still ranks as one of the most legendary, gravity defying MJ accomplishments. 

That season’s signature Jordan model? The Air Jordan 4. The 4 was Tinker Hatfield’s second Jordan silhouette. The mesh netting side panels, external ‘wings’ lace support system and oversized heel tab made for a design that is revered as legendary to this day.

The Jordan 4 ‘Starfish’ is named for the orange hue that adds a sense of vibrancy to a predominantly black colorway. A mesh upper features a black top layer, underlaid with Starfish paneling, with the color also making appearances at the outsole, tongue Jumpman logo, and the exposed edges of the upper.
