The brainchild of designer Hardy Blechman, Maharishi has produced its award winning pacifist military designs since 1994.  The roots of Maharishi, and offshoot label MHI, lay in Blechman’s former career in the military surplus clothing trade, which inspired Blechman to take the concept of repurposing to a new level.

Taking inspiration from the M-1951 shell pant, issued during the Korean war era, the original design features have been reconstructed with a contemporary twist and patchwork detailing. The contrasting Kilim striped detailing is inspired by the fabrics worn by the hill tribes of Vietnam and is a nod to the customisation of military uniforms and the forced conscript of tribal people.
