The idea of the ambulatory dead goes back as far as human beings have told stories of ghosts and monsters. While the various unquiet corpses walked, shambled, plodded, stalked, or in the case of smooth operating vampires, glided through history. Then, in 1985, the all-time horror classic, The Return of the Living Dead introduced a new concept, the running dead. Surely, the next step for the newly speedy, active undead would have to be performance footwear.

To that end, Nike reanimates 2018’s skeletal Air Force 1, just in time for Halloween. The classic leather upper is rendered in monochrome orange, with a black, skeletal foot graphic applied at the sides from heel to toe. The skeletal motif also features on the shoe’s insole, because you never know just where the dead will pop out of next. Glow in the dark detailing at the midsole and outsole add a luminescent, Jack-O-Lantern effect, inspired by the orange upper.

There are always more brains, but once the Air Force 1 Skeletons are gone, they’re gone.
