It’s fair to say that the sandal is a form of footwear that hasn’t been strongly associated with outdoor adventure since the heyday of the Roman Legionnaires. Fast forward to  1992. Nike’s All Conditions Gear range is in full-swing, and the design revolution that took outdoor minded gear from plaid covered mountain men to contemporary radical set its sights on open plan, summer footwear. 

First released in 1992, the Air Deschutz is a performance minded design featuring perforated, quick drying forefoot straps, Air cushioned midsole, textured footbed and a  ready, sticky rubber outsole. This multi-terrain sandal was ready for street, sand, trail, rock and even some water.

After reintroducing the Air Deschutz design last year, Nike kicks off summer 2021 by tweaking the original design with revamped lockdown strap webbing. If you remember it, you’ll be ready to welcome it back. If you’re seeing it for the first time, lucky you, you get to experience it fresh.
